MAKE-A-WISH: WHAT WE DO

Together, we create life-changing wishes for local children diagnosed with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish® Central & Western North Carolina has granted more than 5,300 wishes since its inception in 1985. We seek to bring every eligible child’s wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness.

Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina serves 51 counties in North Carolina from Burlington (Alamance County) to the west and every dollar raised in this region stays here and goes towards granting the wishes of local kids with critical illnesses. All wish expenses are fully covered, including all travel and spending money when appropriate. The objective of Make-A-Wish is to create a memorable wish experience.

MAKE-A-WISH: HOW TO REFER

If your child is older than 2 ½ years and younger than 18, and currently has a critical illness, you can start the referral process by submitting an inquiry at this link. Once the chapter receives this information, they will contact your child’s treating medical team to verify if their condition meets criteria for a wish. (Please provide the name, email and phone number for the child’s best medical contact.)
